Making Progress to Expand Employment Opportunities for the Visually Impaired

Last month, a Conduent team of trainers based in South Carolina was recognized by the South Carolina Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities with an award for their work developing and implementing a training program designed to meet the needs of associates with visual impairments. The training for contact center associates, which is delivered entirely virtual, was not previously accessible to someone using a screen reader.

The Conduent team worked closely with the Governor’s committee experts to understand the specific needs of associates with visual impairments, and then updated Conduent’s existing training program to ensure it could be delivered via voiceover. Since implementing the changes, about 20 associates with visual impairments have been onboarded — and the efforts are ongoing.

During a virtual ceremony in August, the Conduent team was recognized for their efforts and received the South Carolina Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities Award. Conduent Group President – Customer Experience Management Randall King zoomed in to accept the award, recognizing and thanking the Conduent team for their efforts.

“This award reflects Conduent’s ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive work environment and a place where every associate feels like they belong,” said Randall.  He continued, “The hard work this award recognizes has paved the way for Conduent to hire future candidates who require accommodations for visual impairments — opening the doors to an even more diverse pool of talented, qualified candidates. That is great news for our clients, our associates and our business overall.”

Congratulations to all involved, especially the following individuals, who are working every day to help ensure that Conduent is a place where all associates can be themselves and can thrive.
