One of the greatest joys of my career has been the privilege of working alongside some of the most inspiring people in the HR industry. Professionals across the ranks of Conduent serve in vital roles that impact our company, our industry and our clients nationwide and around the world. I am delighted to share important news that Allison Klausner, our Government Relations Leader in the Knowledge Resource Center, has been named as chair of the American Benefits Council’s Board of Directors. As you may know, the Council champions legislation and serves as a technical resource on healthcare benefits issues that impact millions of Americans. With its focus on employer-sponsored benefits programs, the Council includes a broad range of experts in investments, retirement, health insurance, accounting, actuarial science, banking, law and benefits consulting.
Later this week, council members will take to Capitol Hill in front of the U.S. House of Representatives Education and the Workforce Committee to discuss “Legislative Proposals to Improve Health Care Coverage and Provide Lower Costs for Families.” As an expert in the field, and the newly appointed board chair, Allison will be among those testifying at the hearing. While new to this role, she has been an active member of several Washington, D.C.-based industry trade organizations, including the Council, where she has served for 10 years as vice chair, secretary, and treasurer.
Allison is no stranger to hearings like this, and I expect the frequency to only increase over the next year. Her goals, which I fully embrace, are to advocate for employee benefits and help influence public policy around HR and benefits issues. Allison can be a powerful voice, ensuring that the strong but flexible framework our employer-sponsored benefit system is built on can support companies’ efforts to achieve their business goals while also fostering the health and financial well-being of employees and their families.
Outcomes from this hearing and other legislative and regulatory activities that impact the HR and benefits industries are available through Conduent HR Services publications. Professional perspectives, including those on government and legislative activities, are communicated through our many Knowledge Resource Center publications, available via email sign-up.
The hearing is scheduled for March 1 and will include discussion of the following proposals:
