The convenience and usefulness of mobile apps goes beyond checking the weather and monitoring stock purchases; the payment industry has gone mobile too. Consumers can view account history, pay bills and deposit paper checks, all from a mobile phone. And with Apple Pay and Google Wallet, you could potentially leave your wallet at home altogether, paying for purchases with a quick scan of your smartphone.
The prevalence of these apps conditions us to expect mobile accessibility for everything. Whether that comes in the form of an app or a mobile-friendly website, we want convenience and immediate access to information. The child support payment industry is no different. According to Business News Daily, consumers are about equally split when it comes to their preference of using an app versus a browser. Roughly 28 percent of users prefer their mobile browser when completing a task and 23 percent prefer to use an app. This means both are equally important when serving the needs of today’s mobile-friendly world.
On June 1, Xerox and ExpertPay are addressing that need with the launch of a mobile app and a new user interface for ExpertPay.com. ExpertPay is a national pay site that provides employers with an online payment mechanism to submit child support payments ExpertPay provides flexibility, convenience, and security for remitters initiating electronic payments.
The new app streamlines the process for individuals who pay child support and the new user interface for ExpertPay.com will help the individual payer as well as the employers tasked with withholding child support from wages. The new user interface is carried into the app and will have the same look and feel.
The mobile app allows users to make a payment, establish or change a bank account and view transaction history, all from a smartphone. It will also allow for two-way communication through email notification and instant messaging. A similar app is available for cardholders enrolled in Xerox’s Way2GO card program who receive their child support on the pre-paid debit card. Fund balances, deposit information and purchase history are available through the app.
The ExpertPay web portal, which handles $2 billion in child support transactions per year, will give website visitors a much better user experience with a new look and feel. The new user interface will also include a new payroll agency function to alleviate the burden agencies face when trying to remit funds for multiple employers with thousands of employees across different states. The new website functionality dramatically streamlines this process. The new feature will be available in the fall.
Child support customers, like customers in other industries, demand the convenience mobile access brings. That convenience is coming, and its benefits are just around the corner.
