When systems communicate, exchange data, and use that information in a meaningful way, public health benefits. We are thrilled to be a part of the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase during this year’s Public Health Informatics Conference in Atlanta. Showcase visitors will witness firsthand how health information systems, such as Maven, allow users to send, receive and use electronic health information through secure data exchange.
We’re joining forces with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MADPH), Epic and JBS International to highlight how Maven leverages interoperability with hospitals and laboratories in order to benefit public health organizations.
The years of experience between Epic (EHR System), JBS International (Consultant of MADPH), and Consilience Software (Consultant / Case Management System Provider) are culminating in meaningful and efficient data transfers.
In meaningful use exchange, a subset of lab information indicating morbidity is transferred. From an epidemiological perspective, this is only one segment of information needed to complete the whole picture – so it doesn’t deliver everything end users need. For example, important data points like treatment given and facilities that provide treatments are often left out of meaningful exchange. We’ll demonstrate how this exchange process can be fortified through configurability based on morbidity. Users will walk away with a new understanding of how a standardized businesses process can bring critical information from multiple areas and systems together.
“Automating case reporting directly from hospital EHRs to the public health department is an important step in the path of improving how our public health officials interact with healthcare providers to protect their citizens”, stated Mark Marostica, Chief Operating Officer of Consilience, A Xerox Company, “Consilience Software is proud to partner with Epic, JBS, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in demonstrating how state and local health departments can automate the receipt of disease case reports using the Consilience Maven software platform.”
If you’re attending this year’s Public Health Informatics Conference, please join us at the Interoperability Showcase at any of the following times:
