LemoineIt’s Tuesday – do you know where your money is?

Earlier this week, the Today Show highlighted ways you can search for unclaimed property that might be owed to you, including the Xerox-run MissingMoney.com. There’s nearly $42 billion in lost or forgotten funds out there nationwide – checks that never got cashed, security deposits from old apartments, the list is endless – and it’s easier than ever to find out whether some share of that $42 billion is yours.

Here’s a list of seven helpful tips to make the most of your search. The service is free, and you can search 40 states with a single request – results are immediate. MissingMoney.com is the only database endorsed by the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA).
