From HOV Lane to HOT Lane
Transportation agencies have many options when it comes to managing congestion. However, many times it’s impossible to build new infrastructure in the real problem areas.
A proposed alternative is to reclaim some of the available capacity in the HOV (high occupancy vehicle or carpool/transit) lanes by making them high occupancy toll (HOT) lanes.
