For decades, Conduent has worked closely with government agencies to deliver mission-critical services and create exceptional outcomes for our clients and the millions of people who count on them. Because of our long-term relationships with clients and stakeholders, we become part of the communities we serve – through our shared mission, through our employees who live and work in the community, and because of the ways we invest in the local economy.
Some of our longest relationships so far are with government agencies in the state of Maryland, and Conduent employs more than 700 Marylanders in locations from Baltimore and Burtonsville to Gaithersburg and Glen Burnie. These employees support both government and commercial operations located in Maryland, providing services ranging from transaction processing for banks to electronic toll collection to government benefits management.
But our employees are only a part of the picture. That’s because in Maryland, as in other states, we share our clients’ goals to support women-owned, minority-owned and disadvantaged businesses. We contract with small local businesses to help grow their portfolio, skills and presence while partnering to provide the mission-critical services our clients and their customers rely on.
Here are some highlights of our MBE/WBE support in Maryland over the past five years:
- While the number of MBE/WBE partners and vendors we work with varies over time, we’ve worked with as many as three dozen such businesses in a single year to meet or exceed goals for these businesses in our Maryland contracts.
- Similarly, though the amount of work contracted with these entities varies by year, we recently invested more than $20 million annually for the scope of services performed by MBE/WBE partners and vendors.
- The entities we contract with in Maryland cover a wide range of industries and capabilities, including marketing, print and fulfillment services, IT services, and personnel staffing.
We take our responsibility to help states grow their MBE/WBE businesses seriously. We’re proud of the work we’ve done to partner with businesses like this to help states meet their diversity goals, and contribute to a more inclusive, representative economic environment in the state.
