From progress to purpose: Celebrating Earth Day 2025

At Conduent, sustainability isn’t just a goal — it’s an integral part of how we deliver mission-critical solutions to clients, support our associates and create positive impact in communities around the world. As we recognize the theme of “our power, our planet” for Earth Day 2025, we’re reflecting on how far we’ve come — and how we’re continuing to drive measurable progress through responsible initiatives.

Here’s a look at where we’ve made progress, what we’re focused on next and how we’re helping clients and communities do the same. You can learn more in our upcoming CSR report when it releases in June.

Smaller footprint. Bigger impact.

  • In 2024, we responsibly recycled or disposed of 8,617 pieces of e-waste
  • We increased our electric/hybrid fleet to 15%
  • We transitioned to 24% renewable electricity in our purchased energy mix
  • Since 2017, we recycled more than 120M pounds of paper

Cutting emissions and boosting efficiency

In 2024, we achieved a 17% reduction in total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to the previous year. Additionally, we made operational improvements including data center consolidation, the adoption of renewable energy and IT infrastructure modernization. We expanded our use of energy-efficient facilities, including the migration to CyrusOne — a data center designed with water-free cooling, high-efficiency air systems and renewable electricity. Alongside this, we increased our electric/hybrid fleet of vehicles to 15%. We also replaced more than 3,500 light panels with LEDs, significantly reducing carbon emissions from lighting.

Driving impact with digital transformation

Digitization supports stronger environmental outcomes. Last year, we helped clients digitize more than 10 billion documents — double the volume from the year before —streamlining operations and reducing paper usage. At the same time, our own recycling programs diverted more than 14 million pounds of paper from landfills, bringing our total since 2017 to 120 million pounds of paper.

Supporting sustainable, healthier communities

Our Public Sector Solutions continue to support sustainable cities, accessible public services and resilient health systems. From processing 13.7 million tolling transactions daily to helping 195 million people track public health data through our Maven® platform, we’re enabling smarter, more connected communities. Throughout government, we’ve helped streamline eligibility and enrollment for nearly three million residents through platforms like BenePath®, improving speed, accessibility and environmental efficiency by replacing paper-based systems with secure, digital workflows.

People-powered progress

None of this would be possible though without our dedicated associates, who are central to our success. I’m incredibly proud of our team member’s accomplishments last year which saw 12,885 volunteer hours logged for great initiatives such as planting trees in parks to beach cleanups to recycling drives across the 24 countries Conduent operates.

What’s next for 2025 and beyond

This year, we’ll continue to reduce our carbon footprint, expand sustainable procurement and support community and client impact through responsible innovation. With each step forward — across data centers, digital payments, public health and transportation — we’re building a more sustainable future for our clients and communities. We believe sustainability and client success go hand in hand. And with every interaction, we have a chance to make a difference.
