The Cooperative Exchange was established to expand electronic healthcare transactions among participants in the health care industry. The Cooperative Exchange’s mission is to provide open access for Member organizations in order to promote electronic transactions for the healthcare industry by ensuring optimal quality, value and functionality.

The Cooperative Exchange enables market connectivity for electronic healthcare transactions, allows payers to establish a connection with one or more Cooperative Exchange members in order to gain access to an expanded provider base, allows providers to establish a connection with one or more C.E. members in order to gain access to more payers, and shortens the timeline at which all healthcare participants can realize an ROI on HIPAA initiatives.

The CAQH Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange (CORE) is a multi-stakeholder initiative created, organized and facilitated by CAQH, a nonprofit alliance of health plans, trade associations and networks. CAQH is a catalyst for industry collaboration on initiatives that simplify healthcare administration for health plans and providers, resulting in a better care experience for patients and caregivers. CAQH launched CORE to give providers access to eligibility and benefits information before or at the time of service using the electronic system of their choice for any patient or health plan, effectively reducing administrative burden and costs.

EDI Gateway is both a CORE Participant and a CORE-certified clearinghouse.
