Community Spotlight: Conduent in North Carolina
For decades, Conduent has worked closely with government agencies to deliver mission-critical services and create exceptional outcomes for our clients and the millions of people who count on them. Because of long-standing relationships with our clients and their stakeholders, we become part of the communities we serve, through our shared mission, our employees who live and work there, and the ways we invest in the local economy.
For example, since joining Conduent in 2020 as Group President of Payment and Eligibility Solutions, I’ve seen first-hand how we work with our North Carolina clients. Our largest operations in the state, which support government and commercial clients, are in Cary, Durham, Morrisville, Raleigh, and my hometown, Charlotte.
During the pandemic, we made the decision to implement widespread work-from-home operations, to help keep employees safe without interrupting crucial service delivery for our clients and the constituents who rely on them. Currently, about half of our 2,200 employees in North Carolina are working remotely. As conditions change, we will continuously adjust, prioritizing safety, security and operational continuity. We also hire thousands of associates to support our clients nationwide during annual open enrollment periods, adding 1,000 employees in Cary and Raleigh, to bring the total number of North Carolina employees to more than 3,200.
We often explain that Conduent touches millions of lives every day. And in North Carolina, we have worked behind the scenes in multiple capacities for many years. We’ve been here for drivers on the North Carolina Turnpike who can use their transponders to pay for tolls, instead of fumbling for cash or change. We've launched innovations such as our WellCheck application that checks on the health of essential employees. We’ve also responded on behalf of insurers, telecommunications companies, and government benefits programs, answering customer calls and requests for information, to help address their concerns. Our clients recognize us as a trusted partner who strives to innovate and support ever-evolving mission requirements.
And I’m not the only member of our executive team who calls North Carolina home. Randall King, our Group President of Customer Experience Management is here. Walt Frye, our Global Head of Diversity and Inclusion is based here, as is Jeff Browning, who runs global risk management.
When we established our national technology and innovation hub in Morrisville in 2018, Governor Roy Cooper explained, “North Carolina is proud to be the home of one of the fastest-growing technology hubs in the country. We welcome Conduent as another company continuing that innovation focus and growth, while strengthening our economy and providing jobs.”
We’re proud of our continuing efforts here, and I’m proud to be part of our Conduent team in the Tar Heel state.
