Steering North to Alaska for WICSEC

Later this month, more than 300 child support professionals will gather for the annual Western Interstate Child Support Enforcement Council (WICSEC) Conference in Anchorage, Alaska. Attendees will embark on a journey with two primary goals:

  • Engaging peers in discussions related to new initiatives in the nation’s child support program
  • Learning about the culture of our host state

The WICSEC Board and Planning Committee has worked diligently at incorporating these two journeys into one great experience for everyone attending. This year’s theme “Breaking Ice and Melting Differences” speaks volumes as we work towards the next phase of the future of child support program and read the news headlines every day.

This year’s event includes three plenaries and nearly 50 workshops in six different areas of interest.  Personally, I’m having a difficult time selecting a workshop in many time slots because so many sound intriguing! They’ll definitely contribute towards my continued development as a child support professional. Conduent is also proud to be the sponsor of the Authentic Alaskan Dinner at the event, and I’m looking forward to the entertainment and food planned that will give us a closer look at what makes our host state unique.

Our Exhibit Hall home base this year is Booth #17, and subject matter experts from the Conduent team attending the event will include Robbie Endris, Alex Camacho and me.  Please stop by our booth to say “hi” and to share your thoughts for the child support program’s future. We love to dream with you on the future of your program. If you want to set up an appointment in advance, just send me an e-mail.

One last thing that I always say: before you leave for the WICSEC Experience, make sure you schedule an appointment with yourself for when you get back – set aside time to develop a go-forward plan using one or more of the things you learned at the conference.

Safe travels, and we’ll see you in Anchorage!
