Making progress in our CSR journey: Conduent earns EcoVadis bronze medal

At Conduent, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a vital part of our culture, practices and daily operations. We believe that creating a workplace that emphasizes trust, honesty and integrity starts with our people and impacts not only our business, but our world and communities around us.

A history of responsibility

CSR has always been an integral part of Conduent’s DNA.  We began our journey with a strong focus on volunteerism and since then, we have expanded our CSR initiatives across all three pillars of Environmental, Social & Governance. Some of our most recent accomplishments in these spaces include:

  • Completion of our Data Center Optimization Program resulting in a total of 43K+ items of e-waste recycled and the migration of 27 data facilities down to 3 high-efficiency data centers.
  • Recognition by Newsweek and Forbes for being one of the “Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces” and “America’s Best 500 Employers for Diversity,” respectively.
  • Achieving 99% completion from our total 60K+ workforce on both Code of Business Conduct and Information Privacy training.

Expanding our commitment

In 2021, Conduent further solidified our commitment by establishing a CSR & Public Policy Committee on the Board of Directors and enhancing our disclosures with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). We set clear goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) for each of the ESG pillars to ensure we stay on track. Our ESG key focus areas and outcomes are aligned with six of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals:

A year of growth

In 2022, we significantly advanced in our CSR journey. We set ambitious goals to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions (scope 2), achieving a 42% reduction in emissions since our base year. We expanded our disclosures with the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and intensified our focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) with a dedicated leader.

EcoVadis bronze medal: A mark of progress

Our latest achievement, the EcoVadis bronze medal, marks an important step in our CSR journey, reflecting our continuous progress and commitment to responsible business practices.

This medal was awarded to Conduent for our sustainability performance, which places us in the top 29% of companies rated in our industry. This third-party recognition demonstrates our strong performance and progress in managing environmental, social and governance issues.

As the world’s largest provider of business sustainability ratings, EcoVadis encompasses over 100,000 rated companies in more than 200 industries across 175+ countries. This globally recognized and comprehensive assessment by EcoVadis evaluates 21 sustainability criteria across four core themes: Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.

A path to continuous improvement

The EcoVadis Bronze medal is a testament to Conduent's unwavering dedication to Corporate Social Responsibility. It not only validates our sustainability commitments but also provides a roadmap for continuous improvement. Many of our clients now consider EcoVadis scores as the standard for sustainability health across a variety of ESG initiatives, from strong governance and diversity and inclusion to energy management and organizational resilience.

We take pride in our CSR journey, where responsible business practices are embedded in our culture, operations and governance. As we continue to set and achieve ambitious ESG goals, we remain committed to making a positive impact on our planet, society and business.  I appreciate the efforts and commitments of all my teammates as we progress on this important journey.
